Isolation station

Hi, how is everyone hanging in? I’m still here, but haven’t known what to say. It’s a difficult time for everyone. There is so much to absorb each day. I confess that I have cried, or at least cracked a tear, multiple times a day in the last couple weeks. Sometimes it really hits me when I think of how long it will be until I get to see family again, or when I read a touching tweet posted by a stranger, or sometimes when you hear a certain lyric of a song. I am slowly learning to cut down on the intake of COVID news and put some music on instead.

Work-wise, it’s not a different environment for me as someone who works from home, but it still feels entirely different. With so many big concerns, I know that jewellery is likely one of the last things you need right now. I for one have been living in cozy sweats, but should you have that birthday gift, graduation gift, or anniversary gift to give, the website is still open. If sh*t had not hit the fan, I would have been all set up for our beloved One Of A Kind Show to start today. This would have been my 19th year at the Spring Show. I was happy the show made the wise decision to postpone the show, but I will very much miss seeing many of your lovely faces! It’s been tough to watch my creative independent business pals struggle with closures and event cancellations at this time, but so uplifting to see everyone support each other in new and inspiring ways from home! 

I’ve heard many predictions of how long this period of social distancing will last. It's hard to imagine potentially months in isolation. I’ve been so grateful for daily messages, phone calls, facetime tea dates and evening zoom drinks with friends. I hope we can all see each other IRL sooner than later. In the meantime, I’m going to take this period as an unexpected gift to work on other creative ideas and home projects that I tend to not make the time for. I’m staying put here in my isolation station and am going to clean up my never-tidy desk, get the easel out, do some sewing, some writing and chef up some delicious meals. 

One last note: Thank you to all of our front line workers! Thank you to our doctors, nurses, grocery store workers, pharmacy workers, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, garbage collectors, restaurant staff, delivery people, transit staff and so many more You guys are heroes!

The One of a Kind Show wrapped a week ago already! It is always so busy leading up to the show and the days after as well. I have been meaning to express a huge thank you to those that came to the show, whether to peruse the wares or just to say hello!

A super sweet and charming lady that has become a favourite regular customer remarked that she is sinful as she picked out a set of jewels for herself. She then mischievously stated that you cannot be kind without being sinful. I don't think she would mind if I told you that she is at a more mature stage in life than I am, so I gladly soaked up her warm vibes and wisdom. Thanks to all of you that came by and committed your own sins and picked out a piece of jewellery or two for yourselves. Also, a special thank you to my always supportive friends and family that never hesitate to step forward to lend an extra hand! I have the best people around me!

The days post show have been busy but chilled out. I have been catching up with friends, organizing post craft show, working on shipping out orders and finishing up a website update. The new Spring/Summer Collection will go live on the site on Monday, April 10th. You see all the pieces pictured here and much more! 

Goodbye 2016! Hello 2017!

On this first day of a new year, I'd like to thank everyone for all the support. So happy to be able to make and share a few pretty things with you. Thank you! THANK YOU! You guys are the best!

2016 was a year that was filled with a lot of let down the world over, so many of us seemed to wrap up the year by saying goodbye and good riddance to such a year. Personally I had so many great experiences last year. Spent quality time with family and close friends, got to know some amazing new people, had a few bursts of creativity, learned some new skills, traveled to beautiful places, ate some delicious meals. I'm so lucky to have had all this, yet as we welcome 2017, I still had to remind myself of a few things. Be kind, be respectful, be grateful, give time to those that deserve it, be willing to listen, constantly learn more, and always fight for the things we believe in. (Lots of clichés, but all things I have to tell myself from time to time.)

2017 will be amazing! I just know it! Wishing you all a very happy, healthy new year filled with all good things! 💛

Still recovering after the One of a Kind Show! A huge amount of chaos remains post-show, but I have started shipping online and custom orders from the show. I'll work on the organizing later!

I wanted to express a huge, giant, enormous thank you to all of our incredible customers, top notch booth help, supportive family and friends, my amazing creative community and the fantastic hard working OOAK team for an amazing One of a Kind Show. Could not have pulled this off without all of these people holding me up! Another one is in the books!! Thank you! Thank you! ❤️

I was so happy to be back in the real world these past 2 days. You don't know how much you miss real food and daylight, util you spend two weeks in an exhibition hall. I already have a multitude of booth and jewellery ideas spinning through my head as I think ahead to next season and the next show. Can't wait! Feeling inspired after being surrounded by so much creativity. 

Now to catch up on a little sleep!

Sweet!

Soft pastels everywhere! Last week, one of our One of a Kind Show ticket giveaway winners surprised me with a sweet box of macarons as a thank you! Such a nice unexpected token of kindness! Thanks so much to our winner @primandpaper that entered on IG! 

Like I said the other day, we have the nicest, best, amazing customers!

Been slowly catching up on custom and online orders and hesitantly dealing with the bi-annual mess I make in the flurry leading up to the craft show. I have so many projects whirling through my head. I want to do some painting, sew some sacky dresses and new cushions, re-organize my living space, plan a new booth for the Christmas show, so much more. Off to write myself a big list!

Thank you to the BEST customers, family, friends and supporters for an amazing One of a Kind Show.  I am always reminded of how super and loyal our customers are.  I have gotten to know so many by name over the years.  It's great to have the opportunity to chat with customers in person and get feedback face to face.  So happy to see familiar faces and meet lovely new people too!  Looking forward to the next one in November.

Spent the last couple days in a post-show hangover.  Been enjoying the sunshine while working on custom and online orders.  Mainlined coffee in my new pickle mug from Greg Voisin.  How could I not give a mug with pickles on it a good home?  Also, the butter tarts from Beverley's Bakers are excellent.  I may have had a few too many!  Mug and tarts were my show purchases this time.  Very restrained!

A few more custom orders to complete and we will be back to our regular programming!

Oh!  I have been meaning to say a belated thank you to those of you that came out to the One of a Kind Show last week!  Thank you all for making it such a success!  After doing the show for so many years, we have developed a great and loyal following.  It's always loads of fun to catch up with customers that are so kind to visit every show.
