Made You Look

Made You Look is filled with so many amazing jewels!  They carry the work of numerous designers with a mostly Toronto area roster including MoonRox!  Here are some photos from our last couple visits!

Parkdale has come a long way since Made You Look first opened a decade ago.  They were one of the first shops on a strip that is now filled with so many retail wonders!  

Recently, the shop has added a little upgrade!  They set up a room for brides and the special people in her wedding party.  The room is filled with shiny goodness to make the whole bridal accessories experience more personal and fun.  They can also do some alterations to special pieces that you have inherited or help you work on custom ideas!

Fundraiser for Made You Look

I was extremely saddened to hear the news that one of our favourite stores, Made You Look was robbed last month.  Sarah and her lovely team have always been super supportive of the work of independent artists and designers, the Parkdale community, the arts in Toronto and beyond.  For me personally, Made You Look has been a fantastic supporter of my work.

Many artists suffered huge losses in the robbery and it just breaks my heart.  They are looking to raise funds to cover some of the losses.  Please come to the fundraiser to show your support of the store.  It's on July 24th at the Cadillac Lounge.

Quietly at work

So far it has been a quiet week.  Good opportunity to catch up on organizing... getting the work space in well functioning order and running around town checking in on some of the shops!  Yesterday I visited Made You Look. New arrivals at Made You Look

I recently delivered new stock to Made You Look!  Here are some photos of some new arrivals and some other pics snapped around the store.

Plugging away!

It's been super busy lately!  Trying to get lots of work done.  I have a bad habit of letting too much pile up...  I think I need the pressure to force me into full gear.  Made sure to not work all the time and throw in some play too...  I've got to say, I like being busy so much better than being idle!  Here are some pictures taken lately.  (You may have already seen them on my Instagram.)

This week I've enjoyed making some one off pieces... otherwise known as "showstoppers." It's one of the most enjoyable parts of doing what I do...  Love being creative and coming up with something unique.  This is a photo of a necklace in progress.  It's made of vintage green Bakelite bits with the prettiest vintage cross-hatched brass beads.  I'm pretty pleased with the final result.

We finally got a bit of fluffy snow that didn't melt virtually as it landed.  Most of it is gone now, but I enjoyed a couple strolls through the white stuff over the past few days.

Had a nice weekend where I caught up with the three people I used to spend most of my time with about a decade ago.  All three have lived abroad for stretches over the past 10 years and it's nice to have everyone home and nearby again.  So cliché, but great that we can pick up like no time has passed.

Also got to gather with another group of my favoutite people to celebrate S's birthday.  She's due to give birth any day now!  So excited to meet the little pea!  Check out the amazing nail bling she gave me for Christmas!  Didn't seem right receiving gifts on someone else's birthday, but I'm pretty darn excited about these!

Back to work...  Couple more things to do before I retire for the night.

New stock at Made You Look!

A huge megaload of MoonRox jewellery is in at Made You Look!  Their stock has been completely refreshed with all new pieces along with some of our most popular classics!  There are tons of sparkly earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets!  Many of the new pieces that debuted at the One of a Kind are available...  check 'em out!

Recently I have been most excited about the pieces from the Entwined Series.  Pictured above is the Entwined Chain Necklace and below is the Entwined Rope Bracelet with Charm. We got a very good response to the Entwined pieces at the One of a Kind, plus I really enjoy making them, and so I am already excited about adding to the group for the Spring/Summer line.

Nuit Blanche at Made You Look

Can't believe the annual all night art event, Nuit Blanche has rolled around again!  Here's a massive necklace I put together for the installation at Made You Look.  It's over 2 feet long and made for a larger than life being.  I enjoyed crafting with glitter!  You should see some of the other amazing pieces that some of the other designers made!  Check 'em out if you are in Parkdale.  Enjoy this night!

The glimmering Parkdale shop, Made You Look has been re-stocked of all your MoonRox needs. This is probably one of the best places to treat any sort of jewellery addiction. They represent the work of well over 100 Canadian designers, primarily from the Toronto area. I was so happy to see a nice display of MoonRox set up at the counter. They likely have one of the most complete selections of my work that you will find in a retail store. Unfortunately I forgot my camera that day, but I took a couple snap shots with my phone. Pop by their south-side location and you'll find...

Went to drop off some custom orders at Made You Look the other day. Love the cheery bright candy shop array of jewels in the store. Spotted a loaded display of MoonRox and other baubles in the centre of the shop, so had to snap a pic!

Last week I visited Made You Look! They are re-stocked with an excellent selection of MoonRox. I'll have to go back to snap a photo of the work on display, but here are a few pics of the interior of Made You Look (South side) that specializes in fashion jewellery and fun playful things. You'll find lots of MoonRox on this side. Sewing

I spent the past couple days at my fashion designer friends' studio sewing a side project for one of my clients. Now all I feel like doing is sewing! Last night I even dreamed of serging. So this morning, I was happy to peruse Make Something, the blog of Karyn, the owner of the Workroom in Parkdale, right next to Made You Look. In today's post, she shared some handmade ideas from the previous year's holiday season. Here she sewed her gifts into paper packages. I like to sew paper and fabric onto greeting cards and tags, but never thought of sealing the gift with stitches! So cute!

Lots of new MoonRox goods at Made You Look

The two Made You Look stores are like gleaming jewels in the heart of Parkdale. They carry the work of about 140 Toronto area jewellery designers. The store on the south side of the street carries jewellery that is more experimental, fashion-forward, wild and expressive. If you are looking for jewellery that is more sophisticated, classic, refined and timeless, visit the original location on the north side.

New MoonRox items have arrived at Made You Look (south side) just in time for Christmas. There are tons of new necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and hair accessories too, so drop in and check them out.
