A custom bracelet

Had the pleasure of making a special Mother's Day gift for talented illustrator Emily Taylor to surprise her lovely mom. Worked her mother's father's R.C.A.F. button in with a sparkly mix of crystals and chains to make an asymmetrical bracelet. Having always had a great connection to my own grandparents, I was so happy to work on this!

Hope all the mommies had a wonderful Mother's Day and were super spoiled today!

Hope you had a nice weekend.  It was gorgeous here.  I love Spring the most.  It's my absolute favourite time of year.  Especially May.  Everything is in bloom and trees are that lovely and fleeting fresh green colour.  Flowers are everywhere!  Cherry blossoms, magnolias... love them all.  People are in a great mood and out of hibernation.  I could really do with Spring and Summer all year round.  Could definitely do without Fall and Winter I'm indifferent about! Haha!  Work wise I love the hustle bustle of Fall, but we're talking pure weather here!  Spent the weekend enjoying the amazing sunshine and warm temps and gallivanting around town celebrating birthdays and Mother's Day.

This necklace makes me think of Spring vacations when it's not quite warm in Toronto, and you can escape to a beach on a tropical island.  I used to visit my friend in Bermuda annually, and I could spend hours standing in the clear waters staring out at the horizon, marveling at the perfect shade of turquoise water meeting the clear sky.  Something about the colours used in this necklace can bring right back there!

The eBay Mother's Day Collective is coming soon!  On April 14th, you'll be able to get your hands on our exclusive collection for eBay Canada.  Along with Anu Raina, we've put together a group of fresh pieces just in time for Mother's Day. For $75 or less, you can grab a Canadian designed and made gift! These designs are great for a mom in your life, but would suit any woman that loves accessories!  The collection will be available in limited numbers and for a limited time only. First we have the MoonRox Luminous Bracelet and Anu Raina Hugs & Kisses Scarf.

The Luminous Bracelet was inspired by my Sister, a mom of a young babe. Those that know her always joke that she only wears black and grey, so I stuck with the neutrals with this design.  The bracelet is elegant and rugged enough to withstand the grabby hands of a curious and active little one. Two faceted crystals meet atop the wrist.  They are connected to a gorgeous heavy brass chain.  The adjustable bracelet closes with a lobster clasp and is accented with a sparkling rhinestone ball.  Like all of the pieces designed for this collective, I think this bracelet would go with any outfit.  You can dress it up or down.  I'm hoping to get my hands on one of these lovelies!

This is Anu Raina's silk Hugs & Kisses Scarf.  Her designs for this collection were inspired by her own two kids.  Every kid enjoys lots of hugs and kisses from Mom!  Love the bright Spring colours of this hand drawn design.

Happy Mother's Day

Just minutes remaining of Mother's Day here... Hope it was a wonderful day for all the mamas I know and love, especially my own!

Check her out in back in the day... Super cute on the left of both photos with her parents and younger sister, my Aunt L.  The larger photo was taken the day she left Hong Kong, as a brave teenager leaving her family behind and making the long trip to Canada.  (They would follow a couple years later.)

Week in review

'Twas a nice quiet week. I felt like I got a lot of things cleared off my plate at the end of April, so I was happy to calm down a bit. Here's just some of what I got up to...

Went for a peachy lunch as faux tourists overlooking Dundas Square with C.,

saw a two-toned tree,

hung out with a not-so-secret admirer,

or three,

enjoyed sweets and tea and quiet time at home,

mmm...

dropped in on the Inspirations Studio Sale and got these unbearably charming cards and more,

and attempted to sew a dress that is turning out to look more like a hospital gown!

Wrapped up the week with Mother's Day dim sum with Mah Mah (grandmother) and a cheap and cheerful dins with Aunt L. The first full week of May just flew by!
