Every Spring it seems like the One of a Kind Show sneaks up on me quicker and quicker! I thought it felt like I just posted about the Christmas show and I wasn't wrong! My last blog post was indeed about the Winter show! Well, now a few months later and we've been teased by the noticeably longer days and a sprinkling of the nicer weather. I can definitely feel that Spring is near! I can't wait! I'm sure I've said it before, but I don't quite feel like myself until Spring rolls around. Clearly I am made for a different climate.

It's October 1st already! The Summer here seemed brief. I took a vacation with family to Alaska... perhaps the time spent in cooler temps made the Summer feel extra short! Mark your calendars for this Saturday, June 15! We're joining forces with a bunch of amazing local designers to bring you some pieces from our lines as well crafty and creative supplies.

These are the Collar and Bracelet from the Connected Series. Over the last few years, I have made the similarly named Connection Series which have been some of the most popular pieces I have ever made. These are the bigger, bolder additions to the family and I'm pretty excited about them!

Winter escapes to Allan Gardens Conservatory

Beautiful bon bons that I could barely bring myself to stop looking at to finally bite into.

Freezing rain is horrible to walk around it. One lady wiped out right next to me and as I held her up, another man bailed right next to us. Cold icy rain pelting you in the face is not fun, but the sparkling coating of ice on everything was stunning.

Time to get back to work on some new ideas now. I'm always seeing inspiring colours, patterns and sights everywhere!

Toronto Light Festival

I don't get to see my friend A. often enough these days. Life seems to be so hectic for everyone! So we were happy to meet up for a good old fashioned day of Random Adventure. In the past, this has often turned into a bit of day drinking, so after running around doing a few errands together, we met up with I. and found a spot to grab an early dinner and a couple drinks. Warmed with soup in our bellies, we headed to the Distillery District to check out the Toronto Light Festival! It's a new event to the city and we were all pretty excited to check it out. Sometimes events are at their best in their inaugural year... *ahem* Nuit Blanche. We had a great time touring around. It was a warmer weeknight evening before the recent snow had hit this town, so it was ideal for this outing. Not too cold and not too busy! We especially loved the interactive pieces and I am always a fan of neon and colour, so this was right up my alley. Here are some snapshots from our visit. Check it out if you have a chance! #TOLightFest is on until March 12.

Show's on!

Hi everyone! We are over halfway through the One of a Kind Show already! Thank you to so many of you for coming by! I love seeing everyone! Over the last 16 years I have gotten to know so many other amazing exhibitors. It's especially amazing to see our favourite customers come by to say hi show after show! We really have the best, most loyal and nicest customers!

One of the best was so nice to bring me these delicious cupcakes! And they coincidentally went with the colour scheme of the day! I'm wearing the Circuit Bracelet. I made some special ones in luscious coloured glass currently only available at OOAK. It's my favourite thing that I made for this show. I was so excited when I made the first green one, I took it to my bedside like a little kid with a new toy at the end of the night! Haha!

Four more days remaining at the show! Tomorrow (December 1) is the Late Night Shopping eve, so I had better call it for today and catch a few zzzs. It's a great time to come as we are open until 11pm and perks include free parking after 5pm.

Blaze Choker

The One of a Kind Show is days away and I am in the midst of the usual last minute scramble to get everything sorted. I never seem to learn! Somehow it always comes together, so I should really calm down!

This is the Blaze Choker. It's one of my favourite pieces from this collection. Chokers have made such a huge comeback and I wanted to make one that was something you could wear every day as a wardrobe staple. This all brass piece features a beautiful art deco style pendant. I think it would look great at work and at play!

ReBash: A Different Kind of Wedding Show

ReBash had its first edition this past weekend.  We had met co-organizer Jess years and years ago at the One of a Kind Show when she and her former biz partner had a super successful apron business.  We were all in early years of business at the time.  Through social media we had connected again in recent years which has been fun!

ReBash is her new venture with with her friend Joelle.  They put together a really lovely wedding show!  I was happy to be able to donate a blooming statement necklace to their Super Awesome Raffle and was kindly invited to the show with a guest.  We were not exactly in the market for all things wedding and it was my first experience at any kind of wedding show.  Still we enjoyed looking at all the beautiful wedding themed wares and even left with some cute things.  We both thought the show was set in a beautiful space and featured an excellent selection of high quality vendors.  Lots of event creation companies, yummy treats, flowers, and soaps too!  Saw some familiar faces!  Only managed a few photos, but the photo above was taken at the Hoopla booth and the last photo at the August In Bloom booth.

Congrats to the team at ReBash for a successful event!  Keep an eye on them for details on the next Show!
