Visit at Mjölk

Last weekend I finally got to visit Mjölk in the Junction. What an expertly curated selection of wares in this beautiful store... My Sister, our friend G. and I were all drooling over just about every single thing in the shop. Owners John and Juli have filled their shop with fantastic clean-lined design from Scandinavia and Japan. You'll find furniture, house wares, accessories, children's clothing, toys and so much more.
My Sister is hoping this couch will fit in her space.
Love these leather cases from Kenton Sorenson for iPads, iPhones and passports and how they tan naturally.
How adorable are these Ducks with duckling by Hans Bolling?
Really enjoy the tactile quality of these wooden accessories.
Speaking of tactile, the smooth, curved surfaces of these Naoto Fukasawa chairs are divine. I think the arm chairs are my favourite things in the store. Must save my pennies for these. My current dining chairs from now defunct Caban have definitely seen better days.
Visit the shop! Read their stellar blog! John and Juli are lovely and really know their stuff.

Opelle

I'm a sucker for handbags... This one from Opelle looks like a good candidate to add to the collection! Always like the shoulder plus hand held options and who doesn't like a tassel? The bag looks like just the right size to fit the essentials and a bottle of water too. Opelle bags are handmade by a self taught artist and designer right here in Toronto!

Security!

I made this patchwork out of the insides of security envelopes. I can't remember where I have seen this, but it was somewhere out in the blogosphere... My version is much more haphazard, I'm sure, since I did not have a plan, but I like how it turned out. I was looking to cover this ugly panel in my hallway and had grown tired of the piece of Japanese paper that had hung there for years. Sorry for these blurry photos. I took them in the evening when light was waning.
I had a good collection of envelopes as I am one of those people that thinks there is another purpose for pretty much every scrap of anything. I selected a variety of patterns and then cut out the glued edges and window panes.
Then I set about randomly sewing pieces with similar length edges together.
Once I had a few larger sheets made, I combined these into the final wall hanging. At the top, I turned over about an inch to create a tube where I inserted a dowel for hanging. Gave it a quick press with the iron and it was tossed up on the wall!
The back of it looks like a big mess like this. And the final product looks like this! I might do another with all greys next time as I am not favouring the blues, but I do like all the different patterns!
I left the bottom ragged with threads hanging on purpose. I liked how it looked!
'Twas a fun and quick project to do!

(When I was trying to figure out where I had seen this idea, I came across this. Love the covered pencils! Next project!)

Apple time!

It's apple season! Hoping to be able to go apple picking this year... maybe on the weekend. Last year I ended up with my foot in a cast and missed out.

How cute are these serving dishes? Would be great to serve up a nice apple crumble with scoop of old-fashioned vanilla ice cream.

Studio Sale continues today

Our Studio Sale has been lots of fun and has been busy so far. It was so nice to see some familiar faces pop by yesterday!

Come to say hello at 60 Atlantic Avenue in Liberty Village today! Go straight ahead from the front door of the building and head down the corridor. You will find the wares of talented local designers on display and priced at unbelievable prices. Some things are marked down to 90% off! Even the latest merchandise is priced at 20% off for this sale only. I've found myself a pair of this season's Dagg and Stacey pants that fit like they were made for me! Fall

Peter Pan, Toronto
Summer officially ended mere minutes ago. So sad... I am one of those that wishes I could float around in a bare-shouldered Summer dress at all times of the year. I think I dislike the shorter days and I really don't favour the cold. I do love me some good hats and scarves though! Nothing better than being properly bundled in cool weather.

So it's time to say goodbye to the Summer and hello to Fall. Over the past few days, I have been digging out gems for the Studio Sale. This will be a great opportunity to get some excellent deals on a little something (or somethingS) to add to the wardrobe this season. See my last post for the full details. I might have to pick up a thing or two myself!

Just so you know... several MoonRox goodies will be marked down to 50% off and still more fabulous trinkets will be available for as low as $5! This is for the 2 days (September 24-25th) only! Come and get 'em!

Last weekend of Summer...

Toronto Skyline from Beach
Have a good one!

I took this photo with my point-and-shoot while my Dad had his big SLR on the go a couple days ago. So pretty... but definitely looks like the lighting at Summer's end...

Here in Toronto, MoonRox is now being carried at the charming Queen West shop, Charlie Boutique. I'm so happy to have my work included amongst so many great designers. The main focus at Charlie is on Canadian designers, but keen-eyed owner Erin also stocks some select European and American brands. Here are some of the MoonRox items that are now in store.

New MoonRox in stock at S.O.S. Save Our Soles

New MoonRox pieces are in store at S.O.S. Save Our Soles! The shop is in Peterborough and their main focus is shoes, but they carry great accessories too. They write an excellent blog where I have been ogling many a pair of shoes... and boots... and sandals for that matter. Above are some lovely photos of some jewellery in action. Thanks for the ladies at S.O.S. for the sweet posts! They have once again picked up some of my faves from this season. I'm especially into the Fringe Necklace right now. Check out their blog here for more photos. Or better yet, pop in the shop!
