New apron!

Now here's a much more cheerful post than the last, though today has been another difficult day in Toronto.

I got a new apron today! My dear friend A. surprised me with a perfect one made just for me! It's made from repurposed vintage bed linens in the most fabulous prints and colours... and it's reversible! In this photo, I'm lounging in her bedroom which features more lovely bed sheet delights!

I hope everyone had a safe a happy weekend!

Rough day in Toronto

I was trapped in the building for most of the day with massive G20 protests and throngs of riot police around the neighbourhood. I spent several hours with my neighbours viewing the action outside our front door. It was all a pretty wild sight to see, especially in Toronto. I even saw a sniper on the roof two buildings over. By evening, curiosity got me and I ventured out to check things out at ground level.
It really saddens me to see businesses vandalized and and so much useless conflict. A peaceful protest is fine by me, but after today I have no idea what the protestors' messages are. I'm only seeing the chaos. Check out these two completely burned police cars while the block was finally cleared out and calm spread over as we reached dusk.
I'm hoping for a more peaceful day tomorrow. S.K. and her hubby called to ask if I was ready to relocate to the burbs. Not sure, but I know I have lots of nice friends and family that were checking up on me today.

Strawberry pickin'

Had a great Summer day picking strawberries and catching up with S.K. I've been eating berries non-stop... They are super sweet and delicious!

Some recent Treasury love

Spot the Rox!

Thanks to all of those who made these Etsy lists for including some MoonRox pieces!

Odosketch

This is such a cool tool/site! I found Odosketch via Igor & André. I'm not great with the mouse, but it's super fun to play with. I'll see if I can improve my sketching skills with some practice.

I'm going berry picking in the morning! I have never been, so I am excited!

A perfect belt

I have a hard time finding a belt that I like, so I was pleased as punch to find this one from Muse Belts. I picked it out a few weeks back from their Etsy Shop. It arrived quickly and I have been loving it since! The hardware free design is perfect and it's easy to adjust on days when you've had a few more sweets and treats.
It goes perfectly with everything, including the warm tones of this absolutely delightful Dagg and Stacey top. I can't get enough of the amazing print!

Welcome Summer!

Looking forward to a sunny and cheery season!

Random notes

World Cup fever is everywhere and it's nice to see so much spirit!
Baby skunks are kind of cute!
I like taking pictures.
It's fun to walk in the middle of the road on Yonge Street.
It's fun to be in the middle of the road with lots of other people.
Remember when everyone had a Hard Rock Café t-shirt back in the late '80's?
Dundas Square was insanely rammed with sweaty people enjoying the Iggy Pop show!

Love these warm evenings. Today was the last day of Spring. Had a nice family day and I am super tired after the weekend! That's it for now. Hope everyone had a great weekend! Looking forward to an excellent week...

POST NO BILLS

Happy Father's Day to my Dad, who shares the same name as these guys!
... and to all the Dads out there!

A lovely Spring day

The weather this Spring has for the most part been fantastic. Yesterday was one of those fun unplanned days that seem to be more frequent when it's sunny and bright! We spent an afternoon in Kensington (not at this place, but will have to check it out soon),
refueled over a barbeque at A.'s place... and went for an evening bike ride with a stop for ice cream and some "magic, luck and friendship" at Queen's Park.
This is part of the Wish Come True Festival for Luminato by Miami based art collective FriendsWithYou. In the next few days, I hope to make it back to see this by day and some other Luminato events as well!

Square Fruit Market, I'll miss you!

I'm savouring the last few days that local convenience store at Queen and Euclid, Square Fruit Market will be open. They are closing at the end of the month despite a campaign to save them! Even though I live close to grocers in Chinatown, I always prefer to walk a few extra minutes to Square to pick up some plants for the garden, always fresh and often local produce... or even a nice crusty loaf of bread. Now I will have to make three stops in place of the one. Or head to a big chain grocer. Too bad!

Yes, this is a bit of a random post!

Madewell

After perusing the J.Crew site the other day, here is my eye to toe with list for sister store Madewell.
(Even though I already have two pairs of these fantastic glasses, by Retro Super Future, I am always in search of the perfect basic black frames. But... I also fancy this pair. The amazing Zeiss lenses in the Super glasses will sell you on them as soon as you put them on.)

A weekend in June

Hope everyone enjoyed a nice weekend. I was only home for a couple waking hours over the past few days, so am a bit worn out. Went to the album release party for Friendlyness and the Human Rights, went to the Trinity Bellwoods Yard Sale, went to J.'s bridal shower, had dim sum with Family, and dined at A.'s house a few times! I am going to wear out my welcome at her place soon enough! I didn't take many photos this weekend, but here are two from the yard sale.
Look what Aunt L. found! This was the coolest salt and pepper set I have seen in a while! You turn the dial on the front of the TV and the shakers elevate for access to the S&P!
It was a cool day and these wool blankets were looking really cosy. Love the leather straps to tote them with.

I picked up some Pyrex and Fire-King items to add to my ever-expanding collection!

How dear!

These speakers by I.dear are awfully cute! I like that they are made of wood, super portable, look sturdy, and are smaller than a kids' building block!

Cardy search

Last week I was in Buffalo for some cross-border goodness. Went on a road trip with some girls and we had a super-fun extended day of shopping!

I have been on the lookout for a perfect grey cardigan that I can throw over anything. I am in desperate need to replace my Club Monaco one that I have worn almost every day for three years. It has been looking quite sorry for some time.
I found this very good option on the sale rack at J. Crew and brought it home with me! It is light and super soft. I am very happy with it but am still looking for the perfect replacement sweater!

While searching for an image of this cardy, I came across more pretty things at J. Crew:
I am rarely a fan of navy (as a result of years of wearing a navy uniform through school) but this suit is so classic.
I might have to order this one in grey. It is quite similar in cut to my old love. The search continues!
