Antiquing at Aberfoyle

Love seeing collections of things.  Things of days gone by are even better!  Here are some snapshots from a day trip to Aberfoyle Antique Market a couple weekends ago.  It was one of the first sunny Spring days where you could forego a jacket, so we enjoyed our outing that much more.  Hope to return this Summer for another treasure hunt.

A weekend in June

Hope everyone enjoyed a nice weekend. I was only home for a couple waking hours over the past few days, so am a bit worn out. Went to the album release party for Friendlyness and the Human Rights, went to the Trinity Bellwoods Yard Sale, went to J.'s bridal shower, had dim sum with Family, and dined at A.'s house a few times! I am going to wear out my welcome at her place soon enough! I didn't take many photos this weekend, but here are two from the yard sale.
Look what Aunt L. found! This was the coolest salt and pepper set I have seen in a while! You turn the dial on the front of the TV and the shakers elevate for access to the S&P!
It was a cool day and these wool blankets were looking really cosy. Love the leather straps to tote them with.

I picked up some Pyrex and Fire-King items to add to my ever-expanding collection!

A lotta Pyrex

I can't seem to have enough milk glass, whether it be Fire-King, Pyrex, or anything else. Tonight I stumbled upon a Flickr pool called Pyrex Love. I am obviously not alone in suffering from this addiction. Very envious of all these nice collections! I will have to photograph my goodies one day as well!

Day trip

Aunt L. and I were both unable to make it out for 8 am to get the real gems at the garage sales in Cabbagetown so we decided to go to the Christie Antiques Show. We had a nice day in Dundas checking out all the antiques instead. I was very well-behaved and came home empty handed. Love to see all the amazing milk glass... well all sorts of glass.

Super Saturday

Yesterday I went to the Christie Antiques Show at the Christie Conservation Area in Dundas, Ontario. I headed out with Aunt L. and my Sister. It was a perfect Spring day for it -- sunny, breezy and not too hot! I love looking for treasures at these shows. Generally, I look for housewares and decor items as I have waaaay too much furniture for this small place as it is. I have a good collection of milk glass items and always like adding to it. I also scope out the antique jewellery for inspiration and ideas. Lots of great finds out there. I came home with some stackable Fire-King milk glass mugs, a hand beater from the 1950's with Bakelite handles and a lovely Pyrex casserole dish.

Here are some pics from our day.

Lots of Mr. Peanuts

An amazing collection. This seller had so many nice items to drool over. Love those striped glasses.
Still drooling -- lots of utensils with Bakelite handles. The red-handled hand beater that came home with me is in the back of the photo piled with some green handled beaters. The next two shots are more images of her huge collection of Bakelite pieces. I especially love the animal napkin rings.

Beautiful cabinet of thread spools. Love all the colours together.

After the antique show I went straight to the joint birthday party for Bunz' 1 and 3 year olds. I missed out on the music and most of the fun but I'm glad I was able to make it. These are the two portraits of Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear that I painted for the biggest Muppet fans I know. These are small 8 x 10" hilarious portraits. I followed that fiesta by celebrating the birthday of J.S. of Sultry Suds with her and her friends. Happy Birthday to S., M. and J.S.!

Long but fun day! I'm happy to be relaxing and puttering around the apartment today.
