Crawlin'

I think I may be one of the rare ones that dislikes Fall.  You can definitely feel it coming. Days are getting shorter, morning air is cool.  Today warmed up over the afternoon and turned out to be sunny and gorgeous. I really hope the warmth sticks around a bit longer! Eked out a few hours in the middle of a family day to roam around at the Queen West Art Crawl Outdoor Show & Sale, with a big tea in hand. I always enjoy this show and it was so nice to see some of my favourite people exhibiting.
Chatted with Arounna and John at Bookhou...
Watched Arounna working hard as always...
Stopped for a visit with Yasmine Louis and perused her latest tees...
Caught up with Avril Loreti, and picked out some favourites that have now been mentally added to my shopping list!
Had a great conversation with Delores of Heart & Soul about her work in stoneware.  Excited for the new things to come at Inspirations Studio.
Ogled the beautiful hand blown glass jewellery by Karli Sears.  Loved the matte pieces and subtle colour.
And last but not least had a nice chat with Natalie of Tulip+i.
Sussed out some gifts to pick up in the near future.
'Twas a lovely day in the park surrounded by creativity and sunshine!

I have been exhausted all week, still recovering from my travels, but somehow it is 1:00 am again and I find myself awake!  Better run off to catch some Zzzzs.  Busy week ahead! Goodnight friends!

Sunny jewellery-filled Saturday

I had a wonderful Saturday enjoying being outdoors on a gorgeous day.  Didn't feel like work at all!  Cynthia from Togo Jewellery and I had such a nice time selling our wares, chit-chatting and running into lots of familiar people.  I have adored the beautiful resin jewellery from Togo for a good decade and have acquired quite the collection over the years.  I love mixing some Togo with some Bakelite pieces with some MoonRox, of course... and now I'm so excited to have added a few more awesome bracelets to my stash!  Took lots of pics of the riot of colours that we surrounded ourselves with yesterday.  Insta-cheery-mood!

Thanksgiving

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving weekend!  The weather here was amazing!  Wasn't expecting these 26 degree days in the Fall.  Was out too late on Friday and was also feeling run down from the my trip, so had a pretty relaxed Saturday and Sunday biking, checking out the waterfront and a farmer's market too and generally hanging in the sun.  My Sister and W. had us over for a nice Thanksgiving meal on Sunday.  Our family rarely does Thanksgiving as we are usually scattered about on this weekend and believe it or not this may have the first turkey in our family... ever.  (Usually it's roast beef, or worse -- rotisserie chicken at a restaurant!)

Today I strolled through the mall and saw the sticky note tribute to Steve Jobs.  Amazing to think of how much one man can accomplish.  I like the notes that read "Heaven just needed a new CEO."

Goodnight!

Sunny weekend in June

It was such a beautiful weekend here in Toronto. I love Toronto in the Summertime. There's so much going on and there doesn't seem to be enough time to catch all of the great events on around town.... Sad I missed some of the great music that came through the city this weekend, but it was still a good one!
Saturday was a perfect day to poke around the Trinity Bellwoods Yard Sale. I always enjoy roaming around this annual sale, but this time I had some friends selling some goods, so I spent a bit of time soaking up the day (and some rays) with them.
We picked up a few funny buttons (though not this one) but I think we all came away without bringing any significant trinkets/treasures home with us.
Enjoyed some lunch and had my ice cold banana popsicle before I ran off to get myself sorted to attend the long-awaited wedding of W. and W.
Good times with some of our oldest and dearest family friends! So many touching speeches! Really should have brought a wad of tissues... The bride and groom looked like a million bucks and the whole family is cute as can be! Congrats to the happy couple!!
Sunday was family day and even though my Dad was not in town, we were thinking of him on Father's Day!
Hope you had a nice weekend too!

A weekend in June

Hope everyone enjoyed a nice weekend. I was only home for a couple waking hours over the past few days, so am a bit worn out. Went to the album release party for Friendlyness and the Human Rights, went to the Trinity Bellwoods Yard Sale, went to J.'s bridal shower, had dim sum with Family, and dined at A.'s house a few times! I am going to wear out my welcome at her place soon enough! I didn't take many photos this weekend, but here are two from the yard sale.
Look what Aunt L. found! This was the coolest salt and pepper set I have seen in a while! You turn the dial on the front of the TV and the shakers elevate for access to the S&P!
It was a cool day and these wool blankets were looking really cosy. Love the leather straps to tote them with.

I picked up some Pyrex and Fire-King items to add to my ever-expanding collection!

A new dress!

I finally got around to trying my hand at making a dress from one of the books that Aunt L. got me for Christmas. I made Dress D from the Japanese book Adult Couture Stylish Dress Book Volume 2. You can get a copy here. It's the same dress as the one on the cover. I made my version with a lovely fine cotton that is light and airy for this steamy weather we have been having. I ended up taking the side seams in by a total of 4 inches so it is slightly less like PJs. Next time I make this dress, there are a few things I would change. I may lower the neckline and either lengthen the sleeves, narrow them, or cinch them with a narrow cuff or a pleat. Also, I'd put pockets in the side seams. All in all, I am happy with this comfy number!

Aunt L., my Sis and I had fish and chips from Chippy's last night and this dress was perfect for both eating a lot and dining picnic style in the park.

Busy weekend

On Saturday, my friend A. and I roamed around town on our bikes. I failed to take any photos of our adventures as my hands were too cold for most of the day! We went for brunch at the Easy then hit up the Roncesvalles area looking for garage sales but did better with store sales. Then we rolled over to the Clothing Show to visit with our friends who were exhibiting and to scope out more deals. Also caught a peek at a dance competition while at the Ex. On our way home, we escaped getting huge tickets for rolling through 3 stop signs on our bikes. Phew! $330 saved... each! I will never do it again!
Yesterday we gathered some friends (big and small) and lounged in the park with lots of tasty picnic treats. Seemed like everyone else in Toronto did the same. It was nice to see the sun again after so many cold rainy days. Here's a photo that B. took. I'm enjoying my Lilliput Hat! I've never had a proper hat and it's such a treat. Then I went to eat a huge prime rib at The Keg for my Sister's birthday! There went another weekend!

It was a lovely one! Hope yours was too!
