Snapshots from Wayhome

I am way behind on my blogging! I have so many photos piling up that I wanted to share!

A few weeks back, we got some passes to Wayhome and thought why not check it out, but just for one of the three days! It was a sizzling weekend, as every day seems to be lately. Three of us loaded up in the car with lots of sun screen, snacks and ice waters and pretty much every keep-cool method that was portable. Umbrellas and spray misters were a lifesaver.

The traffic was hellish and the venue was huge. The Health app on my phone showed that we walked about 17 Km that day in the blazing, scorching, searing sun! Of course, we did see some pretty good bands, so the adventure was worth it! Highlights were the Arkells, Major Lazer and Arcade Fire.

This was pretty fun! I was snapped by Flare Magazine for the street style report from the Festival! Loved all the beautiful flags and the arc of balloons, so I was pretty excited when a friend spotted the photo and sent me the link! I was wearing a favourite dress that I have had for a few years. I knew that a light colour would be a must in the heat! For jewellery, I'm decked in the Coil Necklace, Jeweled Bracelet, New Connection Bracelet and Power Bracelet in labradorite.

As day turned into night, we met up with a big group of friends and enjoyed the fresh evening air and last few bands. I had promised to do the return drive and after a day in the sun on our feet, it was a huge struggle, but we made it back intact! By the time I got home, showered and to bed, it was 5am. The next day was jammed with family activities so there was no rest for the wicked. I felt like it took me a week to recover. I feel tired even recalling the experience! In the future I think I will stick to music festivals closer to home. I'm too old for this craziness!

Today the winds were gusting and the temperature dropped from a bazillion degrees to 25 or so and I was already missing Summer. It isn't even over yet! I'm going to soak up as much of my favourite season as possible. #ILOVESUMMER!

No sweat

The last week went by in a blur... Been working away and eating massive meals lately!  I have been feeling as if I've been in a bit of sweat shop at times and have been grateful for the friends that have volunteered to lend a helping hand and to keep me company.  I fear I have taken on a task that is a bit over my head.  I have been hired to make many, many necklaces for a company. I have come to realize that this work is slightly outside of my realm and is going to be an enormous undertaking in very little time. I wasn't really going to talk about it here on the blog, as it is not for my own line, but for someone else. However, as it is all-consuming right now, I can't seem to help myself from discussing it! I've posted pictures here or there of materials gathered and I'll probably share some tidbits of work in progress, but I will likely not share the final product.  Let's just say there will be a lot of tubing and spray paint involved...  Wish me luck!  I like a good challenge!

At the same time, I have been keeping busy with MoonRox related work and getting ready for the Fall/Winter Collection.

Was treated to see Roger Waters' The Wall.  Serious show.

Enjoyed the gorgeous weather and made sure to work outside as much as possible.

And tried to keep cool in the heat wave we had.  

This is always one of my favourite times of the year... Love Summer!  Super long days and warm evenings make me happy!

My computer is misbehaving and this post has taken me far longer than intended with lots of waiting time for pics to load, so I'm off now!  A large pot of tea and a late night of work await me!  Goodnight and hope you had a nice weekend!

And it's Monday...

Had a nice Easter weekend!  Seemed busy despite not having anything much planned.  Somehow the days got crammed with things!  Here are a few snapshots.  

Love that blossoms are in bloom all over town... so early this year...  B and I spotted a bejeweled tree!  There was a single earring nestled in the pale blossoms.  Even trees need a little bling!

I love cherry blossoms.  Love the colour of them, love the scent, love the shapes of the branches and love when the petals drift in the wind!

The sun was out most of the weekend.  Makes me happy!  The ROM looked so nice in the late evening sun.

Rainy days

Lately, it seems to raining every day... it's getting a bit monotonous. I even found myself taking a vitamin D the other day after feeling the onset of seasonal affective disorder. Sadly (pun intended) it is not the right season for S.A.D. In any case, I have been trying to keep busy and not let the rain keep me indoors...

Thursday night A. hosted a night of fabulous ribs and Mexican train dominoes. These are always fun nights full of hilarity! We even managed to dine al fresco between rain storms.

On Friday eve, G. treated me to the Depeche Mode concert at the Molson Ampitheatre. Armed with wellies and plastic, we braved the wet lawn.

On Saturday, I spent most of the day doing paperwork while the thunder and lightning roared outside... late in the eve, C. and I roamed over to Harbourfront to check out the last half of the Amy Millan show. The seats were soaked and not many people were there, which made it a really nice intimate show and a big contrast to the show with big screens and fancy lighting that I had been to the night before.

Today was fam-day as usual. Rain... rain... go away... I hope the week ahead brings some nice cheery sunshine!

Fabulous 'n free music

It was a nice mellow weekend! Got to check out some really good music. Went back to City Hall for some more Jazz Festival goodness on Friday with a bunch of folks. We listened in on 'An Evening with Branford Marsalis.'

Then on Saturday, B., T.T. and I saw King Sunny Ade and Femi Kuti. The two amazing Nigerian acts put on some really good shows at Harbourfront. My friends and I have enjoyed the World Routes Summer Festival Series at Harbourfront a great deal over the years. It's a fantastic venue by the water and you get to see musicians of all kinds. I think this weekend was near the beginning of the '09 Summer Series, so there should be many more an evening spent by the water.For every festival, they have a variety of food vendors in the World Cafe tent by the stage. This time, B. and I sampled some momos (fried and steamed meat version) and some Indian food. Couldn't help myself and had B. snap a shot of me, since I am often known as MoMo, in front of the momo vendor's menu. The momos were rather tasty, by the way -- the dumplings, pas moi.

(It's hard to see, but I'm sporting a Dagg and Stacey vest from a few seasons back. I still love it! )

There were huge overflowing crowds for both shows. There's King Sunny Ade waaaaay over there on stage. See the green speck? We managed to score seats for the Femi Kuti show and got a bit closer.

Today I had a nice morning at home watching the Wimbledon gentlemen's final where Roger Federer triumphed over Andy Roddick in an insane 5-setter for his record 15th grand slam title. Then I met up with J. and A. for some quality patio time at Fabulous Cafe Bar by the bus station. A. and I united our matching Weekend Bags from M0851 and took advantage of the photo op. Then it was off to family dinner and another weekend was quickly rolling to a close. How is it days into July already? Hope everyone enjoyed a nice weekend of sun and fun!
