We are a few days into the One of a Kind Show. It's always a flurry of making leading up to to this time of year. I love being at this show and seeing all the pieces come out of it's storage places and come to life as people put them on. Everyone has been so lovely. Thank you for the kind response to the new collection!

One of a Kind Spring 2018 wrap up

It's hard to believe it's already been a week since the One of a Kind Show finished up! The Spring edition always seems to fly by faster year by year!

Leading into the show, I had run myself ragged and was just getting over a little cold on set up day. Luckily I have the bestest of friends that always pull me through these days when I really need the extra help. My good friend K and I set up the booth and made it look beautiful! We had a chill day and slowly put the whole scene together. It's always nice to see everything on display. It's so rewarding to see each piece laid out with other designs from the same series, and not packed away neatly in bags and boxes.

On the first morning of the show, I always try to get there a little early as there are always small tasks to do to get our little home for the next few days looking just right.

I was running a little late and quickly scrambled from the parking lot to head into the building with several bags in tow and a triple espresso in hand. Having made my way across the road plus the streetcar tracks and just about to enter the building, I wondered if I had locked the car.. I always make fun of my Aunt as she doubles back to check if she locked her car 95% of the time. I rifled around all of my bags and pockets in search of the keys. Couldn't find them. Panic set in with the clock ticking closer to show opening time. With my eyes fixed on the car from across the way, I ambled back across the streetcar tracks and across the road. HOLY S*%T, the doors were unlocked and the keys were still in the ignition!? I couldn't believe how stupid I was to have almost given away my car to the next passerby to peek in the window! I was so relieved I had remembered to check before it was too late! I was laughing at myself as I locked the car three times beep beep beep, tucked the keys away and then repeated my steps and went for take 2 to get to the show.

As I crossed the tracks this time, there was a streetcar at the stop. The driver wasn't in his seat so I scampered across despite the do not walk sign. He then leaned to open the door and I attempted to signal that no, I was not looking to board the car. He actually didn't seem to think that I was. He shouted out the door at me. "Have a great day! Sell lots of jewellery!" I said thank you and wished him a great day also. Whaaaaat?! How did he know that I sell jewellery? I mentally checked myself up and down. I had a suitcase and bags and was bundled in my coat. I was not bearing any outside indication that I made or sold jewellery. I didn't recognize him and do not know anyone that drives a TTC streetcar. Maybe he knew me. Maybe he follows me on Instagram or has shopped from me before.

Any which way, that was super nice of him to wish me well and I took it as a positive omen/good vibes/a happy moment.

This is the Sicilian Bouquet Necklace on one of our favourite long time customers. She came in this stunning floral dress and somehow the necklace just seemed meant for her. It's still pretty chilly out for March and April, so I have been so pleased that customers have responded so well to this cheerful piece! Perhaps the more we wear flowers, we will inspire some real ones to pop up! This piece even got a mention on BlogTO!

The Show ran over Easter this year, and I was so happy to see so many of our loyal customers come to share the holiday with us. I know I say this every time, but I am so honoured that so many of you allow me to make some pretty things for you to take with you and make a part of your lives. Seeing our customers in person and catching up on the latest in your lives makes me so happy. 

Thank you to our amazing customers. You guys are the best ever and make all of these jewels come to life! Thank you to my fellow makers for the inspiration, moral support and chocolate eggs. Thanks to the team at the One of a Kind Show for always putting together an incredible event. Lastly, thanks to my friends and family for always supporting me both figuratively and literally holding me up! I have the most incredible friends and family that are always willing to lend a hand, whether it is tagging, prepping, moving, food delivery or tearing the whole thing down again.

Thank you all for making this yet another successful OOAK Show! I can't wait for the next one already! We had a great show, so maybe the TTC man put me in the right lane!

Show's on!

Hi everyone! We are over halfway through the One of a Kind Show already! Thank you to so many of you for coming by! I love seeing everyone! Over the last 16 years I have gotten to know so many other amazing exhibitors. It's especially amazing to see our favourite customers come by to say hi show after show! We really have the best, most loyal and nicest customers!

One of the best was so nice to bring me these delicious cupcakes! And they coincidentally went with the colour scheme of the day! I'm wearing the Circuit Bracelet. I made some special ones in luscious coloured glass currently only available at OOAK. It's my favourite thing that I made for this show. I was so excited when I made the first green one, I took it to my bedside like a little kid with a new toy at the end of the night! Haha!

Four more days remaining at the show! Tomorrow (December 1) is the Late Night Shopping eve, so I had better call it for today and catch a few zzzs. It's a great time to come as we are open until 11pm and perks include free parking after 5pm.

Wrapped up my 15th year at the One of a Kind Spring Show! 15 years/30 shows in the books! I started when I was 7 years old. This is my story and I am sticking to it! ;)

We really have the best, nicest, loyal and amazing customers! A huge thank you to everyone that came by to pick up a new MoonRox piece or just to say hello. Thanks to my family and friends for all of the assistance with ever facet of this business over these years. Absolutely could not have done it without your help. Thanks also to the OOAK team and my creative family for 15 fun years. Looking forward to many more!

Spent today with family and friends and eating pastries and spicy hot meals! Back to work tomorrow!

At the One of a Kind Spring Show & Sale

I had so much fun at the show as usual! I love feeling the buzz in the air and seeing the familiar faces every show. Over the years we have gotten to know our regular customers and it is such a joy to watch little kids grow up, girls get married, lovely mamas return with new additions, different generations enjoying the One of a Kind Show together.  I was once the little kid that went to the Show too.  As a crafty little one, I LOVED it and always left feeling inspired to make things and excited about my new purchases.  Thinking back, it must have been in the early years of the Show that my Mom and Aunt L. first brought me and my Sister.  Aunt L. thinks I was 5 or 6, so that would be the early 1980's.  I love to think that people are going home with my work and cherishing it the way I still adore me some handmade goods.  Anyhow, enough about me.  Here are some photos taken over this five day Show.

This is the charming Jillian of Headmistress Accessories in one of her flower crowns and the Moonshadow Necklace in Blush.  Jill reports that she wears it often and I think it looks amazing on her!

 Here is the delicate Dainty Bracelet.  This customer found one that perfectly matched her scarf.

The newest addition to the line -- The Carnival Necklace.  This is the Coral combo, but 6 other combos are also available!

See!  Here is Jill again!  She and her sis are both sporting Carnival Necklaces!

Lion Necklace... A Tiger Necklace is also available.

The talented designers of Patouche and Julie Sinden Handmade fame.  One came already wearing MoonRox.  Both left wearing some Rox!

This family now each has a Gem Necklace.  The last remaining holdout of the four ladies (one is not in the photo) picked out one at this Show.  They are all such lovely people and wear the necklaces so well! Makes me super happy!

Good Friday at the Show was manic.  I recalled previous Good Fridays being busy, but I had forgotten how crazy it can get.  This was taken when I sat down to make a quick phone call.  The only three minutes spent seated that day!  I'm wearing an arm load.  L-R: Tassel Bangle, Moonshadow Bracelet, Floral Crystal Bauble Bracelet, Entwined Stalactite Bracelet and Entwined Wrap Bracelet.

The next day I managed to steal a few moments to check out some of the work out there!  I enjoyed the new Etsy Section.  These are some adorable prints from ZukZuk.

Also happened on these heavenly soaps on my wanderings.  They are from Liv Simple Farms and are all natural goat's milk and lavender based with other essential oils blended in.  Can't wait to try them out.  Wished I had a chance to check out some of their other products too...

I've long admired the photographic art pieces from Patrick Lajoie.  There was a large round piece of a beach scene that was happy and ethereal and just lovely.  

This is a snapshot from the Scout & Catalogue booth.  Such divine scarves and accessories.  I snatched one up and will show you a pic in my next post.

I was so happy to meet my new Intsagram friend from Swaine Street Woodworking.  Jana was so friendly and warm and she makes perfect cutting boards.  

Zoomed around to visit some of the friends also exhibiting. Here is a photo of the sweet textile plant pots that Bookhou is now making.  Love the idea of a soft item that is almost always not! 

And speaking of talented friends... Here is Stacey of Dagg and Stacey outfitted entirely in a dreamy ensemble of Dagg and Stacey and MoonRox jewels.

Blogger Laura of Wellington and Grey in a the Tassel Bracelet that perfectly matched her outfit, but it was another that went home with her.

Prior to the show I had done my nails in a pattern inspired by the Carnival Necklace, so when we sold out, I just had to stay up late to make more!

Yummy leather wares from Erin Templeton.  Some of these bags have a pocket to stash your traveller beer.  Could come in handy!  For a picnic, say...
